October is National Physical Therapy Month

October is National Physical Therapy Month. There are many benefits of choosing physical therapy. Physical therapists' are valued movement experts and can help with acute physical ailments and chronic conditions. We can help restore your ability to function as well as improve abilities to participate in regular physical activity. Physical therapists create individual plans based on your deficits to help achieve your goals.

Physical therapists are licensed health care providers that can treat all ages and abilities. We can help with the following:

  • Manage pain, avoid surgery, and minimize use of prescription drug use
  • Maximize mobility
  • Recover from and prevent injuries
  • Improve physical function and fitness
  • Prevent or improve chronic conditions

Choosing physical therapy early on when pain occurs can help you address or manage your symptoms. Through the use of hands on care, patient education, and prescribed movement improvements can be made to quality of life. A visit to a physical therapist during the acute phase of pain or an injury can lead to better results. Benefits to seeing a physical therapist early when experiencing pain include:

  • Get better safely without fear of causing further injury
  • Keep moving and stay physically active
  • Avoid the cost and potential risk of surgery and prescription opioids
  • Speed up recovery
  • Avoid other problems causing chronic pain
  • Achieve your goals

Don’t let nagging pain or injury hold you back. At the Office of Orthopaedic Medicine & Surgery, we are committed to delivering the best in comprehensive medical care in Washington, DC.
